I was born in 1962 in Rotterdam, at the moment I'm living in Rhoon. After finishing high school, I started to study for becoming a psychiatric nurse. I've been working in healthcare since 1980. The first years as a nurse and 15 years as a manager over several teams of caregivers at an institute for people with an intellectual disability (all clients had problem behaviour and had a mild intellectual disability).
When I was working as a manager I got a lot of experience and knowledge about team processes, problem behaviour, sexuality and autism by clients with a intellectual disability. During that period I've developed and worked out, together with behaviour therapists, a lot of trainings and schoolings about these topics.
Since 2003 I have been working in our own company: Blankers-Hage v.o.f.
Having an own company offers me the opportunity to get involved throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, with all kinds of new developments in the field of sexuality and autism with normal people, people with a intellectual disability and psychiatric disorders.
I got the opportunity to get acquainted with all the services in healthcare and social field. I still find the biggest challenge in working with the most difficult and interesting cases. Autism is becoming more and more my expertise, but is also the topic that still needs so much to learn about.
Together with Rini Blankers I've developed and worked out different approaches, methods, trainings and schooling.
